The
St. Andrew's Society of the River Plate is a non-profit
organization founded 1888, that raises funds for charitable causes, through
the promotion and preservation of Scottish cultural activities
and traditions.
The Society keeps alive Scottish culture and traditions
by fostering a sense of Scottish roots and a common identity
within a Scottish-Argentine community by the creation of
opportunities for the practice and enjoyment of Scottish
music, song, dance, poetry, customs, art, games and all
other activities related to Scotland's cultural heritage
and history, within the community and with our Argentine
hosts and friends. To achieve this, the Society promotes
and organizes enjoyable social and sporting events, meetings,
gatherings, dances and parties. The Society's educational
objectives are fulfilled by organizing festivals and competitions
and awarding prizes to participants of different ages.
St. Andrew's Society of the River Plate also strives to
contribute to the community in which we live through donations
to charitable and welfare organizations in Argentina. The
Society additionally maintains contact and liaison with
our sister Societies in South America and throughout the
world.
