St. Andrew's Day Service is held every year on the Sunday nearest
to November 30th which is the official day of Scotland's Patron
Saint Andrew. St Andrew, one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus,
is the patron saint of Scotland, but he is also the patron saint
of Greece and Russia. He was never in Scotland during his lifetime,
but after being killed in Greece his relics were brought to the
coast of Fife, Scotland. The legend was that a Greek monk, St.
Rule, was requested by an angel to take the relics of St. Andrew
to Scotland. Although there are different versions of this legend,
apparently a religious shrine was built at "Cennrigmonaid"
which now is St. Andrew’s town.
The St. Andrew’s Day service is held at the St. Andrew’s
City Presbyterian Church in Buenos Aires, Argentina and is followed
by a brunch served in the church hall
